Black Fungus for Clearing Clogged Arteries

Warning!!!

Black Fungus Soaked improperly may produce toxic bongkrekic acid. … To prevent bongkrekic acid poisoning, black fungus should be kept in the refrigerator if overnight soaking is needed. All utensils and surfaces which will come into contact with food should be cleaned thoroughly before food preparation. Bongkrekic acid is produced by the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria in the black fungus. Do NOT soak overnight or for too long, especially if exposed.

Soak the dry black fungus in cold water for 20-30 minutes until they fully expand.

Wood ear should never be eaten raw, since it might contains bacteria.

Dear Bro Lau,

With regards to the black fungus, most people have read about it in the internet many years ago, especially about a case in the US where the patient had clogged arteries and was scheduled to have a bypass surgery. The patient had taken this recipe for several weeks and his condition improved and did not have to go for surgery.

Nearer to home and based on first hand knowledge, my bro in law went to IJN Malaysia (National Heart Institute, Malaysia) about 2 years back for an angiogram and was told that he had 3 blockages, one at 95%, a second at 85% and the third about 60%. An angioplasty was scheduled in several weeks. We told him to re-schedule and take the black fungus remedy instead. He took it for 3 to 4 weeks and then went to Australia for about 10 days to attend his son’s graduation. Upon returning to Malaysia, he took it for another week or so and then went to IJN for the Angioplasty. And viola, the doctor could not find any blockages. The doctor was very very surprised as the scans are normally very accurate, especially since 3 were detected.

Some time later, my bro-in-law got to know that his Malay colleague’s father was also scheduled for an angioplasty at IJN, following a angiogram. My bro-in-law gave him the same recipe and after taking it for about 3 weeks or so, went for the angioplasty and again the doctor could not detect any blockages.

I think we have 2 solid proofs that the black fungus recipe actually works. I am still looking around for anyone else who is scheduled for angioplasty and try out this recipe. If proven right again, we can be very sure of its efficacy.

For those who have chest pain (angina), it will go away after taking this remedy for about 5 days to a week. Many people have said that they have taken this remedy but it did not work. I think what happened is that most people only take it once or twice a week or infrequently. For it to work, this remedy must be taken 2 to 3 times daily; and every day for at least 3 to 4 weeks. However, those already taking blood thinner must be careful as black fungus is also a blood thinner. It may result in uncontrolled bleeding.

Recipe.
1) Soak black fungus (1.5 to 2 handful) for about 3 to 4 hours.
2) Put black fungus, about 1 to 2 inch of ginger, and some red dates into a slow cooker (use a big one) and cook overnight or at least 6 to 8 hours.
3) Let the slow cooker cool down to touch temperature
3) Remove ginger and red dates and throw away.
4) Put everything else (soft black fungus and water) into a blender and blend until fine. The concoction will be thick and gummy. Add some boiled water if its too thick to blend properly.
5) Pour blended concoction into container (may need a big unit or several smaller ones) and keep in fridge.
6) When needed, pour blended black fungus into a glass or mug (about 2/3 full) and add hot water until full, and then stir to dilute it. Drink as soon as possible.
7) Drink the above concoction 2 to 3 times a day for 3 to 4 weeks.

May be good to repeat after 6 to 8 months for maintenance purpose. I think every adult should take this remedy as most of us would have clogged arteries at our age. If you know of anyone going for angioplasty and willing to try out this remedy please let me know.

Can I just drink the tea without blending the fungus?

We find that its more effective to blend the fungus together with the liquid. 

With regards to your blood thinner medication, have a  blood test after a few days on black fungus. Check with your doctor if the thinner is still needed.

So far we have not heard of anybody suffering from giddiness or numbness after taking the black fungus. Usually patients will experience some improvement in their breathlessness after a week or so.
I would suggest that you take the concoction twice daily, once in the morning and another time around 5 to 6pm. It can be taken before or after meals.

There is no wrong way of consuming the black fungus. The whole fungus can be eaten, so are the dates and ginger. But to make it more effective its probably good to follow the procedures that we had suggested.
Please follow the procedures below to prepare the black fungus drink:
1) Soak black fungus (1.5 to 2 handful) for about 3 to 4 hours.
2) Put black fungus, about 1 to 2 inch of ginger, and some red dates into a slow cooker (use a big one) and cook overnight or at least 6 to 8 hours.
3) Let the slow cooker cool down to touch temperature
3) Remove ginger and red dates and throw away.
4) Put everything else (soft black fungus and water) into a blender and blend until fine. The concoction will be thick and gummy. Add some boiled water if its too thick to blend properly.

With regards to the water, put in enough to cover all the ingredients and about 1cm more to cover for evaporation during the slow cooker cooking process.

Actually, it doesn’t really matter as all the cooked fungus and whatever water left after the cooking is blended and all eaten. But there should be enough water to prevent drying up and burning the ingredients.

“Update on my situation where I had a major artery inserted with a stent to help me when I had a minor heart attack. I was diagnosed with other major arteries that were impacted and would need either more stents or bypass surgery. I took the remedy for 2 months leading up to a stress test to monitor how I was progressing.
I had a PET scan done on November 4. This was done where a tracer was used to monitor the flow of blood through my arteries.
I saw my cardiologist today and he gave me the news that the flow of blood through my arteries was showing up as NORMAL. He said he was not expecting these results as my arteries were 70-80% blocked. When asked if the arteries were cleared, he said they were not but could not explain the flow of blood and concluded, we will keep up the medication and he will follow up with me in a year.
I came away thinking that this remedy was a success.

Only question I have in my mind is that if the remedy is a blood thinner, does this have impact/effect on how the blood flows?

I have started to exercise and am up to running 3km with no ill effect.

Update:

On November 5, I went to the cardiologist for my scheduled follow-up consultation.  The doctor examined me, and his nurse performed an electrocardiogram.  During the exam, the doctor asked me if I was still taking the two prescription drugs he gave to me.  I told him that I only took the drugs for the first 3 days after he had prescribed them.  When he asked me why, I told him because I had researched the drugs, and I had learned that the drugs only mask the symptoms I was having, and I wanted to feel what was happening to my body, as I was taking the black fungus treatment.  He asked me how I was reacting to the black fungus, and I told him truthfully.  My angina (of which one episode been so severe, that I thought I was having a heart attack) has almost disappeared.  My blood pressure is lower by an average of almost 8 points!  I have more energy than I have had in many years.  I can actually feel my body getting stronger, and I know that it is because my arteries are being unblocked.  The doctor really did not comment.  He only listened.   I asked the doctor if the EKG gave any indication as to whether my self-treatment with the black fungus was being effective.  He  answered that all the EKG told him was that I still had blockage of the arteries.  He told me that another CT scan would be necessary for him to diagnose whether or not I was actually having a decrease in the blockage of my heart’s arteries.  Because my insurance policy will not pay for another heart CT scan, I will not have one.  The doctor told me that he still suggested that I have the heart catheter procedure, to install a stent in my heart’s main blocked artery.  I will most definitely not, have the stent procedure!  My wife later expressed to me that the doctor told me it was “still his recommendation” to have the heart stent procedure, in order  to protect himself for insurance purposes, or, to protect himself from a potential lawsuit, if I later do have a heart attack.  It is my wife’s opinion that the doctor knows that I am improving, but, he cannot encourage me too much, because the fungus is an “alternative” therapy.  However, on my initial visit, the doctor explicitly told me that if I did not do something, a major heart attack was an “eminent event” for me.  This last visit, he said no such thing.  In parting, he instructed me to give his office an immediate telephone call, if I experienced any difficulties.  Barring any difficulties, he wants to see me again in six months, for another follow up exam.    

My wife and I both think that his reactions indicated that he is indeed aware, that my condition is vastly improved!

I have decided to continue my regimen (I drink the concoction 3 times daily) for another year.  Because, I know my severe artery blockage occurred over a long period of period of time.   So, I know that my condition will not disappear over a short time.  I think that after my condition is again normal, I will maintain my heart health by continuing the regimen one day per week.

My wife and I are both convinced that the black fungus treatment will return my cardiovascular health to normal!

I will keep you appraised of my progress.

Papaya and Green Tea for Rheumatoid Arthritis

A friend, Lee Soo Sin, introduced me to the Green Papaya with Green Tea remedy for my rheumatoid arthritis. I have been seeking a natural remedy for the nagging deep throbbing “pain” in my feet, especially the left foot. With the current stormy weather in my locale, it does not help matters at all. When the weather looked about to change, my feet get even more painful.

Rat Ear (Peperomia pellucida L.)

I have tried the Pineapple remedy and the Rat Ear (Peperomia pellucida L.remedy which gave partial relief but not a complete “cure”. The Rat Ear is apparently a popular herb in the Philippines for rheumatoid arthritis. Unfortunately, after almost 2 weeks of drinking the Rat Ear tea, my problem still persists. So today I’m embarking on the Green Papaya with Green Tea remedy and will document my experience here.

Small Green Papaya

Cut into “Cubes”

Recipe:
1. Cut a green papaya (unripe papaya) into small cubes, with skin but remove the seeds.
2. Put a few cubes (25 grams ) in a pot of water and bring to boil.
3. Add green tea to the boiling water. The author used Oolong tea.
4. Filter off the papaya and tea leaves and drink the tea.

Pecah Beling Leaves

I used 4 cubes in 2 cups of water. After the water is boiling, add 7 dried leaves of Pecah Beling ( Strobilanthes crispus as my green tea. Low boil and simmer for about 30 minutes to reduce to one cup. I used Pecah Beling because this is growing abundantly in my garden and it has antioxident properties. I drank it after my lunch. I drank the tea at 2.15pm and it’s now 3.15pm. The deep throbbing “pain” seems to have subsided although the feet still felt “tight”.

 

 

 

 

Day 2 ( 30-May-2014 )
Woke up this morning and I could get out of bed without the feet feeling leaden and no stabbing pain. I was quite excited to boil my second dose of Green Papaya-Green Tea, which I did after my breakfast. Again, 4 cubes of green papaya in 2 cups of water, bring to a boil and added 7 dried leaves of Pecah Beling as my green tea. I drank it this time before lunch with much hopeful anticipation. I was not disappointed. By late afternoon, the throbbing irritating pain had not returned. I had to press my foot to touch some spots where there was some remnant mild pain. Otherwise, I don’t even know the pain is there.

It’s now 9.30pm as I’m writing this. I can’t wait to drink my third dose tomorrow.

Day 3 ( 31-May-2014 )
Again, I got out of bed without much problem. My feet felt a bit more leaden than yesterday. But it should get better after I drink my third dose, I told myself. I repeated yesterday’s routine; boiled the tea after breakfast and drank it about an hour before lunch.
The deep dull throbbing pain did not return, but I could feel the pain in the joints of my toes when I tried to stand on my toes.
Maybe my expectation was too high, considering that the effect was understandably more pronounced the first day since the overall pain was more widespread and felt. Now that the remnant pain is only slight, any improvement would also be less noticeable.
Let us see what happens tomorrow.

Day 4 ( 1-June-2014 )
Repeated the tea boiling routine and drank my fourth dose just before lunch. It’s now more than 3 hours since I drank it and there seems to be some incremental improvement. It’s not as painful as yesterday when I stand on my toes. The remnant pain is in the joints of the big toe and the small last toe. More in the small toe of the left foot. The “pain” is more of a “feeling” than an actual physical pain. It’s hard to describe but I guess fellow sufferers will know what I mean.

So far, so good. I wonder if I’ll have any additional improvement tomorrow.

Day 5 ( 2-June-2014 )
The remnant “pain”, particularly in the left foot, remains more or less the same, which means to say that I don’t really notice it unless I think about it. That is quite good for me. Towards late evening, strangely the joint of my little finger on the right hand had a bit of irritating discomfort. Otherwise, I should say that the tea seems to be maintaining a good level of comfort for me.

Day 6 ( 3-June-2014 )
The tea seems to be maintaining my comfort level. That suits me fine.

Day 7 ( 4-June-2014 )
When I woke up this morning, I felt the feet somewhat leaden. However, it loosened up after I had walked around a bit. I drank my 7th dose at about 11.00am.

Day 8-13 (5-9 June-2014)
I drink a cup a day just to maintain the level of comfort. The pain/discomfort does not disappear completely but it seems to have settled to a reasonably tolerable level, where I don’t really notice it unless I think about it.

Pineapple Relieves Arthritis, Joint Pain and Swelling

pineapple480optI had this nagging peculiar pain in my feet, which affects the toe joints, heel, ankle joint, outer side of feet, at various time.  At first I thought it might be gout and I attempted the nutmeg remedy. It didn’t work for me.

I then consulted a TCM practitioner and he diagnosed it as “wind” in my feet. Chinese readers will know what I mean. He showed me some pressure points which when pressed/rubbed, gave some relief. The rest of the treatment involved applying some messy paste on the feet and some awful tasting liquid medicine. I must say the TCM treatment helped somewhat. The problem is that whenever one part of the foot is relieved of the pain, it (the pain) reappears elsewhere on the foot.

Then at a recent wedding dinner, I was seated next to my friend, BK Lee, to whom I recounted my feet problem. The next day, he forwarded to me an email that his sister had circulated which described how someone attributed the pineapple as the remedy for his/her arthritis. BK suggested I try this.

That was on 9-June-2013. The next day I had my wife buy me some pineapple to eat (fresh, as dessert). I must say, it didn’t seem too promising. However, I was determined to give it a decent trial, if not for anything else, at least I’ll have a first person report on yet another natural remedy that didn’t work for me. So I stuck at it; eating a generous helping of the fresh fruit daily, including my morning fruit juice (pineapple with other stuff  like carrot, etc.). By the end of the first week, I definitely felt some significant relief. Today is 20-June-2013, and I can safely say now that the relief is real.

So what is it in the pineapple that makes it an anti-inflammatory wonder?  It turns out that “bromelain” is an enzyme found in the plant family, Bromeliaceae (bromeliads). Bromelain is often marketed as a natural anti-inflammatory for conditions such as arthritis. It’s one of the most popular supplements in Germany, where it is approved  for the treatment of inflammation and swelling of the nose and sinuses due to surgery or injury. In the case of pineapple, the bromelain is extracted from its stem and the fruit core.

Now, most of us remove the rather fibrous core when we eat the pineapple fruit. And the stem is inedible. So while it took 10 days for me to be convinced of its efficacy, I am going to eat the fruit core from tomorrow, to see if eating the core helps more. Stay tuned for the update here.

Natural Treatment for Cancer

Dr Stallion Chan gave a talk to a full house at the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association’s main hall on 25-Aug-2006. Dr Chan made a startling and compelling case on a natural treatment for Cancer based on collagen, papaya and Vitamin B17. 

According to Dr Chan, the body has a natural defence against cancer cells if the body is healthy with a strong digestive system. The pancreatic enzyme of a healthy digestive system can control cancerous tumours and was first recorded in 1906 by embryologist Dr. John Beard who wrote that pancreatic enzyme is one of the body’s defences against cancer and would be useful as a cancer treatment. Dr Chan suggested that a healthy body with a healthy and strong digestive system would secrete the necessary pancreatic enzyme that would help inhibit the formation of cancerous cells. A cancer cell protects itself from the human immune system with a protein shell which can be dissolved by the pancreatic enzyme.

If that be so, how then can we get supplementary pancreatic enzymes if we need them? The answer to this is the remarkable papaya which has an enzyme called papain which aids the digestion of protein. Dr Chan pointed out that the beneficial effects of papaya is aready well-known amongst the indigenous peoples of the varous countries where papaya thrives; from its use as a contraceptive to its curative property for cancer.

In addition to papaya, Dr Chan also suggested that cancer could be in part caused by the deficiency of Vitamin B17, very much like scurvy is simply caused by the deficiency of Vitamin C. When purified for cancer treatment, Vitamin B17 is known as Laetrile. However, this is a banned substance in many countries including USA, UK and Malaysia because Vitamin B17 is related to cynide and is very toxic in the wrong dosage. However, Dr Chan contends that this is as close to a magic bullet for cancer as we will ever find. Laetrile is routinely administered in Mexico for the treatment of cancer. Fortunately, Vitamin B17 can be found naturally in many fruit seeds especially apricot seeds. 

In summary, Dr Stallion Chan advocates the following approach to treating Cancer:

1. Strengthen the Digestive Sysytem.
As the first line of defence in the battle against Cancer, Dr Chan offers a prescription of restorative tonic to boost the digestive system. For now, the prescription is in Mandarin, in this PDF file, (click to download) which most Chinese medical shops or “sin-seh” will know how to prepare from Dr Chan’s prescription.

2. Collagen Therapy

Dr Chan said that the cancer cells, in their natural state, will spread very fast in the body. In order to slow down the growth and spreading of the tumour, it will be helpful to wrap the tumour in collagen to contain the cancerous cells, until the pancreatic enzymes or alternatively the enzyme from papaya and Vitamin B17 can destroy them. Collagen is a fibrous protein found in cartilage and other connective tissue. One way to supplement the collagen in the body is to consume animal cartilages, eg. shark cartilage.

3. Papaya Therapy

The papaya is an excellent source of enzymes, minerals and vitamins (A, C, B complex and E).
Boil 1 or 2 papaya leaves and simmer for about an hour, and drink the resulting soup/tea. The mature green papaya (ie. skin is green, but the flesh is already red) can be used whole with skin, flesh and seeds and blended , by itself or with other fresh fruits, to drink. The mature green papaya and seeds are also reputed to be able to get rid of undesirable parasites in the intestines.

4. Vitamin B17 Therapy
Dr Chan suggests eating apricot seeds both as a preventive therapy as well as part of the curative treatment for cancer.
As a preventive measure, one should consume about 7-10 seeds a day, and this can be gradually increased when used as part of a curative treatment.

My mum-in-law passed away on May 8, 2010, at 90, because of old age; not because of her kidney. She had a good and healthy life for the 22 years since the doctors gave up on her. We sincerely hope this may help others in the same predicament.


My mother-in-law had chronic renal failure of both kidneys back in 1988. She was 68 then and she’s still alive and perky today at 89 (April 2009).

One kidney was declared completely failed and the other had only 25% functionality left.

She was put on various antibiotics which gave her bad reactions and she also had bed sores due to the prolonged periods she spent in bed.

After a prolonged stay at the hospital, came the ominous pronouncement, “She has only 3-months left; take her home, make her comfortable and give her whatever she wants.” (or words to that effect).

Well, in a no-choice situation, an unexpected “choice” appeared in the form of a Chinese man (Mr Ong of Nibong Tebal; sadhu! sadhu! sadhu!) who heard of my mum-in-law’s plight from my brother-in-law. He introduced us to a wild shrub (Urena Lobata or Congo Jute or Pulut-Pulut) which was used to make a soup/tea for my mum-in-law to drink. That’s the miracle and the reason that she is still alive and well today, we believe. 

The recipe calls for the stems of the plant to be cut in lengths of 2-3 inches and air- or sun-dried for storage. Take a small fistful (say 5-10 stalks) and boil in 3 bowls of water until 1 bowl left. A piece of lean meat can be added for taste (or as I believe to “balance” the “coldness” of the plant). Drink once a day for a week and observe for any improvement, before continuing. The frequency can be reduced as the condition improves. My mum-in-law now drinks it once a week or even less frequently.

The shrub grows best wild (too much care and attention tends to stifle it). Just scatter the seeds (like tiny hedgehogs; 3-5mm brown seeds that will cling to clothings, hair, like velcro) in a quiet corner of your garden and leave them to grow “wild”). The plant can grow up to 4-5 feet, but can be harvested as soon as it is about 3-feet tall. Just cut the larger stems and let the plant re-grow the branches. Remember to continually scatter the seeds for a steady supply of the plant. Note: there are two types; white or pink flowers. The recommended type is the one with white flowers.

We have introduced this to several other people and to the best of our knowledge, it works for them as well.

History

When cancer strikes a family, what course of action should one take? Dr. Tateishi Kazu’s father and brother both died of cancer. And then he found himself suffering from cancer of the duodenum and spreading. His stomach was removed, but the cancer cells had spread to his lungs. He resolved to fight for his life. He researched, studied and tested over 1,500 types of herbs and plants. Eventually he discovered the right combination of ingredients and formulated a unique healing vegetable soup and brown rice tea with its own molecular powers. The vegetables are rich in green chlorophyll, amino acids, iron, phosphorous, calcium, all in a natural form.

He based his soup on the principles of Five Elements theory, the harmonizing balance of the forces of yin and yang, acid and alkaline, that engenders health as opposed to the imbalance, which leads to disease.

Vegetable Soup Recipe – (2 day’s quantity)

Ingredients:

16 ounces white daikon

8-10 ounces white daikon greens

8-10 ounces carrot

8 ounces burdock root (called Gobo in Japanese, Uang in Korean, Ngao pong or Niu pang in Chinese)

3-5 fresh shitake mushroom (sundried) – if not sundried, expose dried mushrooms to sun again.

Directions:

1. Don’t peel anything! Don’t add any seasoning!

2. Fill a pot with three times the quantity of water as the vegetable. When it comes to a boil, reduce the flame and simmer for two hours. Strain and drink.

Brown Rice Tea Recipe

Another remedy that can be used in conjunction with the vegetable soup is brown rice tea. It is a good diuretic for ridding excess water from the body. For diabetics, it can bring the sugar level down by producing more natural insulin in the body. It cleanses the blood and blood vessel. A person with a heart condition drinking both soups in 20 days will be able to regulate their problem by drinking three cups per day. For a regular cancer patient, about two cups.

1.- 1 cup brown rice

2. 16 cups water

Note: only cook in stainless steel or glass. Do not mix with any other ingredients. Don’t be “creative.”

Directions:

1. Roast the rice without oil until dark brown but don’t burn. Boil 8 cups of water and pour roasted rice into water. Turn off flame, cover and let sit five minutes. Strain out rice and reserve liquid.

2. Boil 8 more cups of water. Put the remaining rice back in the water. Cover, lower flame and simmer five minutes. Strain rice out. Mix the two rice waters together.

Special Notes:

The amount one needs depend on the condition. The more serious the condition, the more tea.

Do not drink tea while taking a high protein substance.

Don’t drink the vegetable soup and brown rice tea together. Wait at least 15 minutes apart.

If you use this remedy regularly you will never be sick.

Some possible reactions:

If you use medications and/or have eczema, use less because of stronger reaction

People with head injury problems may develop headaches but don’t worry.

People with eye problems may get temporary blurred vision or itching around eyes. Eyesight will get better. If you wear prescription glasses, try to reduce the prescription and use glasses less frequently.

Lowering of body temperature, but this is normal.

Notes:For high blood pressure, drink the two soups alternately but slowly. Blood pressure will come down after one month. Talk to a doctor about reducing medication, but don’t stop medication right away. Use remedy for minimum of one month.

A1: Dr. Antonia Martinez Director of the Healing Spirit said that their recipe uses the real weights and not the fluid ounces as in other food recipes.

Q2: Do people using the Vegetable Soup have side effects or reactions?

A2 : Depending on individual bodies, some people using the Vegetable Soup could have side effects/reactions. Reactions are classified in 2 categories:

(3) using wrong type of saucepan. Must use stainless steel saucepan to cook.

(4) vegetable soup left outside in room temperature more than 6 hours can turn out to have bad smelling or color changes to green or white. Throw it away at once. Vegetable Soup should be stored in glass container and refrigerated.

(5) drinking the Vegetable Soup and the Brown Rice solution together or in the same time. People are reporting serious reactions when taking those two solutions in the same time. Must drink them separately with half-hour or one hour apart.

Q3: How much vegetable soup can one consume a day?

A3: For:

Diabetes take 600 cc of Brown rice (BR) solution in the morning and 400 cc of Vegetable Soup (VS) in the afternoon.

Heart problem: 300 cc of BR and 600 cc of VS

Gall stones: 600 cc of BR and 600 cc of VS.

Other diseases: About 600 cc (2.5 cups) of VS a day divided in 3 rations before meals .

IMPORTANT NOTE

DO NOT DRINK Vegetable Soup and Brown Rice Solution in the same time. The interval needed between consumption of BR and VS must be at least 30 minutes or 1 hour apart to be safe.

Burdock

This herb gets its name from bur, for its tenacious burrs, and dock old English for plant. Many scientists are skeptical about Burdock and its uses. However, as a healing herb it has a potential for treating cancer. Early Chinese physicians, as well as Ayurvedic healers, used Burdock as a remedy for colds, flu, throat infections and pneumonia. During the 14th Century, its leaves were pounded in wine and used to treat leprosy. From 1930-1950, Burdock was used as an ingredient in alternative cancer treatments.

The FDA noted that too much of this herb can cause side effects and lists Burdock as an herb of “undefined safety”. However, German researchers have discovered fresh Burdock root contains polyacetylenes, a chemical that kills disease-causing bacteria and fungi. It also reduces mucus and prevents formation of gall and kidney stones. As Burdock contains vitamin A and selenium, it can eliminate free radicals.

Its chromium content helps regulate blood sugar levels. Other qualities of this herb, set forth in the magazine Chemotherapy, identified a chemical (arctigenin) in Burdock which acts as an inhibitor of tumor growth.

History

Burdock is also known by the names Bardane, Clotburr, Beggars Buttons, Gypsy Rhubarb, Gobo, and Burr. In traditional herbal texts, Burdock Root is described as a “blood purifier” or “alterative”, and was believed to clear the bloodstream of toxins.

Medicinally, Burdock Root has been used both internally and externally for eczema and psoriasis, as well as to treat painful joints and as a diuretic.

In traditional Chinese medicine, Burdock Root, in combination with other herbs, is used to treat sore throats, tonsillitis, colds, and even measles.

It is eaten as a vegetable in Japanand elsewhere. Burdock is a mild laxative. It also aids in the elimination of uric acid. The herb contains polyacetylenes that have both anti-bacterial & anti-fungal properties. By improving the function of many organs of elimination (liver, kidneys, bowels), many health conditions can be improved.

Burdock Root contains high amounts of inulin and mucilage. This may explain its soothing effects on the gastrointestinal tract. Bitter constituents in the root may also explain the traditional use of Burdock to improve digestion. The polyacetylene constituents have also been shown to have anti-microbial activity. Burdock Root (and the fruit) also have the ability to mildly lower blood sugar (hypoglycemic effect).

.Medicinal Action and Uses

Alterative, diuretic and diaphoretic. One of the best blood purifiers. In all skin diseases, it is a certain remedy and has effected a cure in many cases of eczema, either taken alone or combined with other remedies, such as Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla.

The root is principally employed, but the leaves and seeds are equally valuable. Both root and seeds may be taken as a decoction of 1 OZ. to 1 1/2 pint of water, boiled down to a pint, in doses of a wineglassful, three or four times a day.

The anti-scorbutic properties of the root make the decoction very useful for boils, scurvy and rheumatic affections, and by many it is considered superior to Sarsaparilla, on account of its mucilaginous, demulcent nature; it has in addition been recommended for external use as a wash for ulcers and scaly skin disorders.

An infusion of the leaves is useful to impart strength and tone to the stomach, for some forms of long-standing indigestion.

When applied externally as a poultice, the leaves are highly resolvent for tumours and gouty swellings, and relieve bruises and inflamed surfaces generally. The bruised leaves have been applied by the peasantry in many countries as cataplasms to the feet and as a remedy for hysterical disorders.

From the seeds, both a medicinal tincture and a fluid extract are prepared, of benefit in chronic skin diseases. Americans use the seeds only, considering them more efficacious and prompt in their action than the other parts of the plant. They are relaxant and demulcent, with a limited amount of tonic property. Their influence upon the skin is due largely to their being of such an oily nature: they affect both the sebaceous and sudoriferous glands, and probably owing to their oily nature restore that smoothness to the skin which is a sign of normal healthy action.

The infusion or decoction of the seeds is employed in dropsical complaints, more especially in cases where there is co-existing derangement of the nervous system, and is considered by many to be a specific for all affections of the kidneys, for which it may with advantage be taken several times a day, before meals.

Burdock’s name is a combination of bur, for its spiked seed covers – burrs – that grab onto anything that touches them, and dock, Old English for “plant.” Many scientists dismiss burdock as useless, but like its seeds, its reputation as an herbal healing agent clings tenaciously because of its subtle tonic benefits and its intriguing potential as a treatment for cancer.

Throughout history, burdock has been recommended for an astonishing number of illnesses. Ancient Chinese physicians used it to treat colds, coughs, tonsillitis, measles, skin infections and snakebite. Traditional European and American herbalists and homeopaths prescribed it for colds, arthritis, gout, stomach problems, fever, canker sores, leprosy, boils, gonorrhea, ringworm and infertility. They also considered it an excellent diuretic, and prescribed it for urinary tract infections, kidney problems and painful urination.

True, burdock is not powerfully therapeutic. But Daniel B. Mowrey, PhD, director of the American Phytotherapy Research Laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah, and author of The Scientific Validation of Herbal Medicine, insists that it deserves its enduring place in herbal healing because of its value as a tonic – a subtle strengthener with cumulatively helpful effects.

“Burdock’s action is mild, but real,” Dr. Mowrey explains. “It has antibacterial and antiviral powers, and it reduces blood sugar, which helps prevent diabetes. I recommend using a little every day. And when you’re ill, use it in addition to standard therapies.”

Lower Cholesterol Easily with Chia Seeds

Chia seeds can lower cholesterol.

He takes a teaspoon of chia seeds* and soak in a glass of plain water at room temperature for a few minutes every morning.
